The San Diego Asian Film Festival was such a great event and one of the films screened there that got our attention was a documentary film about 1st Lt. Dan Choi; a very personal look at the life of an activist who created a movement. An Iraq combat veteran and Arabic linguist, he came out of the closet on national television in March 2009. He was later discharged and has since become a prominent mouthpiece in the fight to overturn the U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy. Journalist/Filmmaker Sung-Min Yi was in attendance for the screening of the film Love Is Worth It and we were able to capture him discussing the evolution of the film and what it was like to spend a day in the life of 1st Lt Dan Choi.
