“Valor with Honor” and “442nd” (Working Title) are both independent film projects by filmmaker Burt Takeuchi. Both films are based on the 42nd Regiment Combat Team that consisted of segregated American soldiers all of Japanese descent who fought in Europe during World War II. The Japanese American soldiers fought not only on the battlefield, but also against racism back home in America where many of their families were put into internment camps. Even in their struggles in war and racism the men of the 442nd are the most decorated unit in all of U.S. military history. “Valor with Honor,” which was released in 2009, is a documentary film with over 35 Japanese American Veterans telling their personal stories of battles in Italy, France, and Germany where they were witness to the holocaust.

“442nd” is a feature dramatic film and is a companion piece to “Valor with Honor.” The film is currently in development and is in the stage of raising funds to generate a secure budget so film production can begin. The film will be shot in Northern California locations including the San Francisco Bay Area.
