Self-Deportation: The Untold Tale of a Marginal Man
SYNOPSIS:
An Asian businessman returns home from a long day at work in downtown Chicago. His ride home on the El turns into a bizarre nightmare as the passengers on the train begin to assail him with racially tinged remarks. The mob’s voice builds into a shrill cry to “go back to where you came from!” Distraught, the Asian man decides to build a shipping crate and mail himself home. This self-deportation takes him on a strange adventure through the “Real America,” where he bids farewell to a broad-shouldered fireman, a handsome high school quarterback, a trio of peppy cheerleaders, two fast-talking politicians, and a young married couple with a baby. When the shipping crate arrives at its destination, the Asian man climbs out, weary but relieved to be home finally… in New Jersey.
