Those who are regular readers will know that our favorite stage is owned by the East West Players. Last night was the preview of their new production called Krunk Fu Battle Battle which officially opens May 18th (and we the press will be there!). Directed by Tim Dang with lyrics by Beau Sia, musical direction by Marc Macalintal, choreography by Jason Tyler Chong, and fight choreography by the super talented actress/writer/director/stunt woman Diana Lee Inosanto, the production is based on a book by Qui Nguyen. It is a stage hip-hop musical extravaganza about young Norman Lee who under the guidance of Sir Master Cert battles the baddest b-boy crew at Sunset Park High for the respect, honor and heart of sweet Cindy Chang. The cast includes Joan Almedilla, Cesar Cipriano, Liza B. Domingo, Lawrence Kao, Blas Lorenzo, Evan Moua, Leng Phe, Megumi Tatsumikawa, Matt Tavao and Troy Terashita.
