Tiffany Hsiung, a Canadian filmmaker from Toronto, is working on a documentary film entitled Within Every Woman . The film explores the forgotten history of “The Comfort Woman”, a term used to describe over 200,000 girls who were forced into sexual slavery during World War II in Asia.

The project began in 2008 when Tiffany started travelling throughout rural China, the Philippines, and South Korea and met and documented the survivors of what is known as the largest institutionalized rape system in world history. Today, these survivors are now mothers, grandmothers and wives and are all above the age of 80. The documentary takes the viewer behind their inspiring courage and strength and shows how clearly they are still haunted with memories of the past and the healing processes they each went through to recover from the brutality they endured.

There is a Kickstarter campaign for the film and it is down to it’s final 6 days, so if you would like to be a part of this project please visit their Kickstarter site here: Within Every Woman
