Where is that soapbox…right…under my desk…let me pull it out and dust it off since it hasn’t been used in a while…there we go…let me get on it and clear my throat. Ready…Set…Go!

Digital cameras have allowed filmmakers in every city around the world the opportunity to show their creativity without spending tons for production. That means that short films are the most exciting way to see new creative talent. Alas, many people skip short films. The reality is that good filmmaking is not dependent on the length and the internet proves that point. Since LAAPFF will be presenting a multitude of short films don’t miss them! Make them a priority and you’ll see how great short films are in the new world of filmmaking! (Stepping down from my soapbox…sliding it under the desk and on with the post)

There are few few short films that we have or will be focusing on that got our attention one way or another and we even managed to snag some of the directors and actors for interview in our already uber busy interview schedule. Actor James Huang has a role in the feature film Adultolsecence, but you can also see his Writing/Directing work in not one but two short films being screened, Represent and The New Adventures of Johnny Karate and Golden Delicious. We also completed and posted our written interview with camera shy director Eric Yang about his short film You’re Safe With Me.

And coming up this week are other short film previews with interviews from Director Ross Ching who created the internet blockbuster starring Harry Shum Jr. and Steven “tWitch” Boss3 Minutes, Writer/Director Timothy Tau, Actor Max Phyo, Actress Cyndee San Luis (The Case), and Actor Hidekun Hah (The Case & Play Time), Writer/Director Kevin Ung (Chubby Can Kill), Writer/Director Cindy Fang, Writer Alice Kim and Actress Sascha Tominaga (A Crossroad Called Manzanar), Actress Ruka Felicity Nagashima (A Crossroad Called Manzanar and Hide and Seek) Christopher Woon (Among B-Boys) and Writer/Director Wesley Du, Actor Jesse Wang and Actor Won Lee (Dumpling). If we can meet, arrange, and squeeze, we will be scheduling a few more as well! For more information about the festival and the shorts programs visit their website: LAAPFF
