The Academy’s event comes to a close tonight with the film The Owl and the Sparrow. Stephane Gauger’s tender story is marked by arresting glimpses of hardscrabble life on the streets of Saigon where a ten year old runaway, Thuy, wanders the city selling roses to make a living. In her daily travels, she meets a lonesome flight attendant and a reclusive zookeeper and schemes to form a match and possibly a new family.

While we spoke with Stephane and tried to coordinate schedules so we could sit down with Stephane and discuss the film, he is in production for a new film that that made it complicated! We were able to chat with him off camera briefly, but don’t worry! Stephane will be in attendance for the Q&A after the film and we will be able to bring you that tomorrow!
