As readers are aware, we take the liberty to deviate slightly from Asian-American Hollywood at times. In the case of Shanghai artist Stuart Qian, we saw some of his abstract art that incorporates painting, drawing, clip art, photos, film and whatever else he can find to make art that just captures your attention. It is on the one hand so childish, yet inventive and adult at the same time and it’s fair to say it has a quality that just drags you in! We contacted Stuart and asked him if he would let us use some of his art for a banner and what he gave us is drowning in sweetness, honey to be exact, and you can almost smell the art! He told us about some of the nuances and secret meanings and ideas behind this banner, but we won’t share that with you.
